LOCAL PUBS AND RESTAURANTS

We are fortunate to have some excellent places to eat and drink within walking distance of the barns but also a short bike ride or drive away. Both rural country pubs and eateries in nearby villages and towns. There is a lot to choose from but here is a selection of our favourites. The ones we visit most frequently and can highly recommend.

THE RISING SUN

A short 5 minute walk from the barns

Our local, this 15th century inn, is a real gem.  The Rising Sun is a traditional country pub, sitting just above the Somerset Moors. The bar hosts flagstones, ancient beams and an impressive fireplace, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. A destination dining experience, the food is superb.

THE BIRD IN HAND

In the centre of the village, a scenic half an hour walk away

Our other local. The Bird in Hand is a classic traditional pub, with a warm, friendly atmosphere. There is a great menu to choose from with fish dishes and a fabulous traditional roast on Sunday's. In winter there is a large open fire with huge logs blaring away.

THE FARMERS ARMS

Traditional country pub a short drive away

At the foot of the Blackdowns, this is a pub we will frequent with a group of friends for Sunday lunch after a morning walk in the hills. Great all year round. Cozy in winter, big beer garden in summer.

WHITE POST CAFE

This place is a one-off special - worth the 30 min drive to Langford Budville, near the Wellington Monument

We stumbled across this place when hunting down a refuel on a morning ride with friends. We've since been back for all day brunch. It's a magical place, tucked away down a narrow lane. We're planning to set up a 'sister' cafe on our top field next year!
